Dromond of Frisia

The Romans come, of course. They are not the first, but they really seem to have their shit together. Dromond of Frisia joins the auxiliaries—anything to keep fighting.

They say someday he can earn citizenship, but he doesn’t care much for carrots. Dromond goes in for sticks, specifically the swinging of said. Walking through camp with Jenny slung over his shoulder, he can feel her sway and breathe in her scabbard.

The legionaries call him gladiator—the swordsman. Foes use other names. They say he is cursed. They say he cannot be killed.

And, well, he hasn’t been yet.
