Cremuel

When men are set to guard a place and remain unchallenged in all ways for weeks—or even merely days sometimes—their vigilance slips. It is human nature. They develop habits, and the gargoyle watches carefully so that he might remember them.

The time is nearing twelve thirty. Inside, the guard will be putting down his cup and beginning his rounds. He will check the latrine before anyplace else, and he will be thorough. Cremuel brings out the picks. He could force the lock if needed, but he has seen the keys they use, knows it will listen to reason.
