the smuggler’s bible

Sarina leaves the party and picks a side passage at random off the main hall. After walking under the sparkling chandeliers, she finds a set of doors which open onto the garden. There’s a  gently curving path beside a fountain. Hundreds of subtle aromas blend in the night air to become an elegant bouquet.

“I’m sorry. I didn’t expect to find anyone here,” a voice says. “Certainly not an extraordinary rose such as yourself.”

She turns. It’s Duke Gilroy. But his sword wound is gone. His eyepatch is missing too.

“OH MY GOD,” Sarina gasps, “WE’RE STILL IN THE GAME.”
