“There’ll be talk no matter how we proceed. The usual corners will screech. Most will come around eventually.”

“It has to be better than that. It can’t fall apart. I need something that can take a beating and keep going, dents and all. It’s got to be righteous.”

“Sure, boss.”

“So, will it be enough?”

“As things stand? No. Loose ends—we still don’t know what’s going on with Pale. If this blows up in our faces, that’s where the fuse gets lit.”

“Fine. Send someone down,” Loup Roger says, swirling his wine. “Somebody good.”
