The short list of Renata’s infractions reads simply malfeasance. It’s vague, but the unabridged list is, technically speaking, itself a crime to divulge, so that’s all the file says.

“Was it, like, a felony or something?”

“The reporting officers described it as a ‘cascading eruption of contrastatutory behavior.”


“Guy was a geology major or something.”

“But you did your time, right? Debt to society stuff, I mean.”

Renata shrugs.

“Uh huh. That wasn’t—”

“Do I get the job or not?”

They lowball her to start, of course, but don’t really put up a fight. Renata knows what she’s worth.
