the smuggler’s bible

Dromond of Frisia

Dromond spends a few weeks looting with the northerners. The fighting turns out okay. He washed ashore near the end of the whole operation, so the good stuff is mostly finished. Just one loose end left to tie up, the warlords say. Gotta take the army to Edington and wallop King Alfred again.

“This is an army?” Dromond says, looking around, “Are you really sure that’s the right word?”

After the battle, he picks himself up out of the dirt and decides it’s the last time he goes viking. It’s fun and all, but it’s hell for a man’s career.
