There’s an alley behind Third Street near Maywood where you can hear mariachi music. Val says it’s an acoustic trick, that there are caves in Europe which demonstrate the same principle.

Anyway, that’s where they fight the kids down out of Spencerville. Nothing personal, just turf. But they play for keeps, swinging chains and lead pipes.
